About Us

The PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund was formed in 1934 to support songwriters and composers during the Great Depression. Over 75 years later we continue to be there for PRS for Music members and their dependants in times of crisis, thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

We all know the music business can be unpredictable and demanding, and even after periods of success it can be precarious with no guarantee of earnings. This means that when crisis hits such as illness, accident or emotional breakdown, there may be no safety net.

We provide financial help to PRS for Music members, former members, and their immediate families in times of financial difficulty or when they are unable to work because of illness, accident or disability.

A message from our Patrons
"We are proud and honoured to be patrons of the PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund. The Fund has helped so many people in times of stress, whether it's illness, hard times or a one-off crisis. That's why we have given our support to the Fund which has done such good work for its community of songwriters, composers and musicians – giving them personal, emotional and financial support, when they need it most."

Helping the Heart of Music

Helping the Heart of Music - our 75th anniversary

In 2009 we celebrated our 75th anniversary with a star-studded fundraising concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The event was sponsored by PRS for Music and Gibson Guitars, and introduced by Sir Tim Rice, compered by Feargal Sharkey. With thanks to Mick Hucknall, Melanie C, Paul Carrack, Lee Mead, Mark King and Mike Lindup (Level 42), Andy Fairweather Low, Kiki Dee, Chris Difford, Georgie Fame, Jan Akkerman, Albert Lee, Martin Taylor, Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings and a very special reunion of the Faces, we successfully raised awareness and vital funds for the PRS for Music Benevolent Fund.
